Ask the Experts and Allied Professionals Forum
At the International Alliance meeting held in Berlin, Germany 2009, two "expert" sessions were presented. "Ask the Experts" brought together five leading experts, from a range of clinical and scientific fields, to discuss ALS/MND.
The "Allied Professionals Forum", specifically for health and social care professionals, aimed to foster the exchange of information and good practice to facilitate the highest standard of care for people living with ALS/MND.

Alliance Board and Annual Meetings

ALS/MND
ALS and MND are abbreviations for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease respectively. ALS/MND is a neurological disease that affects over 350,000 of the world’s population, and kills over 100,000 every year.
About the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations
The International Alliance is the peak body for national organisations who support people living with ALS/MND. The Alliance has undertaken several initiatives, including publication of background documents, created two awards, and initiated bursaries to assist members to attend the International Alliance meeting and a Support Grant to support the formation of new Associations, or the establishment of recently formed Associations.

Alliance members come from all over the world, and are listed in the Directory. The Directory provides information about the services provided by each organisation, and the means of contacting them.
ALS/MND Annual Meeting
The International Alliance holds an annual meeting for members to meet and share advances in supporting people living with ALS/MND. Held in conjunction with the Annual Symposium on ALS/MND, the meeting is an excellent opportunity to discuss patient care, organisational development and planning, funding, and the role and activities of the International Alliance and its Board of Directors.

IPG, founded in 2005, is inspired on its creator’s work, the physicist and civil engineer Paulo Gontijo (1932-02) who dedicated a large part of his life to understand the human diversity through science. IPG mission is to encourage and promote science. To achieve this goal, the institute organizes the PG Award, manages de Science Temple, and feeds a database about ALS. IPG seeks international scientific research promotion, through partnerships with governmental and private sector besides third parties.
Motor neurone disease (MND) researchers working in collaboration across Europe and the US have confirmed that a region of DNA within chromosome 9 plays an important role in both sporadic and familial MND; and a form of dementia called fronto-temporal dementia (FTD).
Toronto, Ontario (June 2, 2010) - To coincide with ALS Awareness month (June), the ALS Society of Canada has launched its first interactive campaign, created by Lowe Roche, Toronto, to raise awareness about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and to raise much needed funds to go towards research for a cure for the disease.
